What should I do before the crew arrives?
Move what you can out from under the water and put a container down to catch it. If a ceiling is bulging and it is safe to reach, a small hole at the low point relieves the weight and prevents a larger collapse. Stay off the roof, particularly in the wind that usually accompanies these calls.
Does an emergency call cost more than a scheduled repair?
There is a modest premium for immediate or after-hours dispatch, and we quote it plainly before we come. The alternative is usually a night of unchecked water moving into insulation and drywall, which costs considerably more than the dispatch fee.
