Emergency Roof Repair on Older Oshawa Houses
Temporary protection on an older Oshawa roof takes more care than on a new one. Shingles that have been on the house for decades crack when lifted, and board sheathing may not hold fasteners well, so a tarp nailed down the way it would be on a new roof can tear free or add damage. We lap tarps under sound courses above the damage, secure them with battens into solid framing, and weight the edges where fastening is not possible. The aim is a cover that survives the rest of the storm and comes off without making the permanent repair bigger.
